Famous Historical Figures from Your Closet
Female Protagonist
Young Civil Servant in the Japanese Government
The twenty-two-year-old protagonist who is fresh out of college and currently works at the welfare division of the Tokyo municipal government. She's very friendly, to the point of having a hard time declining other people's requests. She does not like to argue with people and avoids conflicts with others as much as she can. A person with strong nerves, she can sleep soundly without worrying about strange noises that have been coming from her closet for weeks. She came to Tokyo after inheriting an empty house from her grandmother, who died last year, and commutes to work every day for two hours.
"I just want to do everything I could possibly do to help them return to their times."
Oda Nobunaga
The First Unifier of Sengoku Japan
The famous warlord from the Sengoku period and one of the "Three Unifiers" of Sengoku Japan. He is the first time-traveler to appear in the protagonist's closet, and upon his arrival, he has immediately "confiscated" the protagonist's house as his new headquarters. Arrogant and ambitious, he is ready to use his transgression as an opportunity to adventure in a whole new world that's full of exciting things to explore. Among all the historical figures that have time-traveled to contemporary Japan, he is the quickest to accept reality and start his new life.
"Time...travel...? Hahaha, isn't that great! Now I just need to conquer the world again!"
Kusunoki Masashige
Emperor Go-Daigo's Loyal Retainer
The famous warrior who fought for Emperor-Go Daigo during the Genkō War (1331-1333) in an attempt to overthrow the Kamakura bakufu and restore the imperial court. Having time traveled in the middle of the Genkō War, he is the most eager of the transgressors to return back to his time. A serious and devout supporter of the imperial family, he frequently finds himself to be at odds with other transgressors who are opposed to or indifferent toward the imperial institution, but he tries his best to stay calm and avoid getting into trouble. He has a rather nerdy side as a genius strategist and can be spotted in the military and history sections of local bookstores. He is also an avid collector of all Emperor-Go Daigo related merchandise, though he often laments the scarcity of it.
"I can't just sit idly by when His Majesty needs me the most!"
Taira no Masakado
The First Rebel in Japanese History
The first rebel in Japanese history who sought to overthrow the imperial court in 939. In contrast to his reputation as the court's enemy and a ruthless rebel, he is a surprisingly kind and big-hearted person who acts as a big brother to the protagonist. He is the friendliest among all the transgressors and is always willing to offer his counsel when asked for it, but he dislikes talking about his past and appears to be rather hesitant about the prospect of returning back to his time. He avoids discussing what happened prior to his time travel, although he seems to be already in the middle of his rebellion against the court when he unexpectedly transgressed into modern Japan.
"Haha, my head can't fly around and talk by itself like the legend says. Wanna try touching it?"
Taira no Tomomori
Commander-in-Chief of the Taira Clan
The Commander-in-Chief of the Taira clan who acted as the de facto military leader against the Minamoto during the Genpei War (1180-1185). He transgressed into modern Japan right before he was about to drown himself at the final battle at Dan-no-Ura. He's almost the perfect representation of a Heian court noble, calm, elegant, and mysterious, and always acts gently with the Protagonist. However, he frequently appears to have suicidal ideas and can occasionally come across as a somewhat strange figure when he just can't stop talking about fate and attempting to get everyone involved in his fate discourse.
"Just when I thought I have seen enough...Maybe it's not time to take my life yet. Should I call this fate too?"
Chō An (?)
The ??? of ???
An unknown individual who appeared in the protagonist's closet as the last time-traveler. Everything about him is still a mystery. Unlike other transgressors who, for reasons unknown, can communicate in modern Japanese as soon as they arrive in modern Japan, he speaks a language that no one else could understand. When asked about his identity, he points his finger to Chinese characters that would render them Chō An in their Japanese reading, but no one knows if that's the correct way to pronounce it. He is also the only person who has transgressed to modern Japan carrying something he owns: a book. No one knows the book's content, nor are they able to read it.
